JEFFERSON, Wis. — A Saturday evening motorcycle crash in Jefferson has left one person dead and another hospitalized, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the intersection of U.S. Highway 18 and Bakertown Road after receiving reports of a motorcycle crash involving two riders on the same vehicle. When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found both individuals injured, with one in critical condition.
According to a preliminary investigation, the motorcycle was traveling along the highway when it drifted onto the gravel shoulder on the north side of the roadway. Authorities say the driver attempted to re-enter the main roadway but was unable to regain control, resulting in a crash.
One of the riders was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency response efforts. The second individual was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment. Officials have not released updates on their condition at this time.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an active investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash, including why the motorcycle left the roadway. Investigators are reviewing evidence from the scene and gathering any available witness accounts to better understand the sequence of events.
