Dakota Acevedo Motorcycle Accident Le Mars, IA Death: Identified Victim in Fatal Intersection of Highway 3

Authorities in Plymouth County, Iowa, have confirmed the death of 33-year-old Dakota Acevedo of Le Mars, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred late Friday night near Le Mars.

According to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 10:10 p.m. on June 5 following reports of a serious motorcycle accident northeast of the city. The crash took place just east of the intersection of Highway 3 and Marble Avenue.

Preliminary findings and witness statements indicate that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the rider failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The motorcycle subsequently left the roadway, resulting in a loss of control. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

When emergency responders arrived, bystanders were already performing life-saving measures on Acevedo, who was unconscious and not breathing at the scene. Deputies, along with assistance from firefighters and officers from the Le Mars area, immediately took over rescue efforts.

Acevedo was transported to a nearby hospital in Le Mars, where medical personnel worked to stabilize his condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later airlifted to a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he remained in critical condition.

Despite extensive medical intervention, authorities confirmed that Acevedo later died as a result of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office. Officials have not indicated whether additional factors may have contributed to the incident beyond speed and loss of control.

Friends, family members, and members of the local community are mourning the sudden loss of Acevedo, remembering him as they come to terms with the tragic outcome of the crash.

Authorities continue to remind motorists and motorcyclists alike of the importance of safe speeds and cautious driving, particularly on rural roadways where curves and visibility can present additional hazards.

Further updates may be released as the investigation continues.
